What happens to the information you give us?
We use the information provided by you to process your booking and communicate with you about your hire. Information collected when you complete your member profile is used to confirm and process your reservation and rental, prepare your invoice, bill your credit card (when you reserve a prepaid rate) and send you a reservation confirmation email, and provide you with enhanced rental service at your request.
Europcar could access to your personal information also for the following situations:
- Alerts notification / On request vehicles & equipment
In the event you have booked a vehicle or equipment that is on request and that happens to be unavailable, Europcar may phone you or send you an email notification to inform you of this.
- Responses to your questions or suggestions
We will use your email address or telephone number to respond when you submit a question or suggestion.
Except as stated in this privacy policy, we never share your information with another company, or let other companies use our database of customer information. We will only communicate with you to market our services if we have your permission to do so.
How do we protect your personal information?
The Europcar network is a safe and secure online environment. Our systems are configured with data encryption, or scrambling technologies, and industry-standard firewalls. When you send personal information to the Web application over the Internet, your data is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to ensure safe transmission.
Every credit card transaction you make via the Web application is done through our Secure Server Technology. This provides many security features, including: Authentication: this assures your browser that your data is being sent to the correct computer server, and that the server is secure.
Encryption: this encodes the data, so that it cannot be read by anyone other than the secure server.
Data Integrity: this checks the data being transferred to ensure it has not been altered.
We have strict procedures for storing and disclosing your personal information to prevent unauthorised access. These security procedures may occasionally mean that we request proof of identity before we disclose information to you. Your information is also protected by SSL encryption which means data is turned into a unique code whenever it's sent over the internet.
What information do we collect?
When you register into the web application, we collect your name, gender, date and place of birth, contact information (including your full name, phone number, email and postal addresses).
A profile is stored for each person who registers on the web application The information you enter when creating your profile is stored in our system to make your booking process quicker and simpler when you next rent a vehicle. Depending on your account with us you may also need to provide details of a credit or debit card, passport and driving licence details.
To further speed up your booking process you can also supply preferred delivery and collection information, default booking references and a preferred model
Third parties
Third party contractors may sometimes have limited access to information collected on this Web application in the course of providing products or services to us, for example, hosting and maintenance of the Web application or credit card processors. This is strictly limited to information which is reasonably required by them to perform their duties.
These third parties are at all times required to comply with the terms of this privacy policy and as such are prevented from using or disclosing any information for any purposes other than providing services to us.
Cookies
Cookies are required on the Web application to store your details whilst you are logged in to the application. Cookies are pieces of information that a web application either transfers to your computers hard drive or stores temporarily in your computers memory for record keeping purposes.
